A fully documented manual of procedures, guidelines and responsibilities which sets out the framework for consistent and appropriate environmental management across the full range of the company's operations

Individual production management plans
Astron operates individual custom-developed environmental management plans. Each plan takes account of issues particular to that product.

The ISO 14000 code for Environmental Management
Astron is currently working towards completing formal registration.

Environmental Policy
Astron is in the business of manufacturing advanced Zirconium and other chemical materials. In the execution of this production the company takes particular care that all environmentally sensitive activities are managed to meet our environmental management objectives.

Action is taken to
  • Identify the environmental aspects that flow from work activities.
  • Evaluate the potential impacts of these aspects on the environment.
  • Implement a management plan to mitigate or prevent those impacts.
  • Establish and operate a monitoring and reporting programme as part of the management plan.
  • Constantly review, upgrade and improve the management plan.
Senior management confirms their commitment to
  • Establish, maintain and review documented objectives and targets with full consideration to the views of all interested parties.
  • Pursue the continuing development and maintenance of this environmental management system and the requirements that this system be used in the pursuit of the work activities to achieve the documented objectives and targets;
  • Ensure the availability of resources and skills to enable compliance with environmental legislation, legal requirements and achievement of the company plan.
  • Promote communication about environmental management as a normal component of all aspects of work.
  • Ensure those environmental management objectives and targets are incorporated into production planning, monitoring, reporting and control systems.
